Introduction to cold processing technology of quartz glass

The deep processing of quartz glass refers to processing quartz glass raw materials (tubes, rods, sheets, blocks) into quartz devices required by users. It is divided into two forms: cold processing and hot processing. The following is a detailed introduction to cold processing using glass.
Cold processing mainly includes cutting, grinding, and polishing:
1. Cutting: mainly using diamond saw blades and diamond saw blades to cut quartz tubes or quartz sheets. Multi-blade cutting machines and wire cutting machines are mainly used for cutting quartz ingots and quartz blocks. Laser cutting machines and inner circle cutting machines are mainly used for cutting guide plates.
2. Grinding: plane grinding disc, single-axis and double-axis polishing machines, divided into rough grinding: Hcp is 10~20μm finish ▽2. Plane milling machine, multi-function milling machine, fine grinding: Hcp is 6.3μm finish ▽6. Drilling machine, lathe, inner and outer grinding machine, rough grinding: Hcp is below 6μm ▽7.
3. Polishing: multi-axis polishing machine: Hcp<λ, that is, below 0.5μm. ① The purpose of rough grinding is to shape the workpiece to have a certain geometric shape. After processing the surface of quartz glass with loose abrasive or bonded abrasive, its surface unevenness Hcp10~20μm, ▽2. Rough grinding Some use loose abrasives to grind manually on the grinding disc, or use bonded abrasives for mechanical grinding. There are several types of loose abrasives, such as green SiC (corundum) and fused white corundum; 60#~12# fused corundum sand can achieve ▽2. Bonded abrasives include SiC resin and diamond grinding wheel. Rough grinding is best done on a surface grinder or milling machine with bonded abrasives. ②, Fine grinding: The purpose is to improve the roughness of the surface, so that the workpiece obtains a nearly finished geometric shape, laying the foundation for polishing, and grinding the surface with loose abrasives, unevenness Hcp<6.3μm; dimensional accuracy 0.5~1.0mm. There are also two types of fine grinding: manual loose material + flat grinding disc, generally using a smaller grinding disc, linear speed of more than 12m/s, the workpiece moves in an elliptical shape on the grinding disc, and rotates 180° normally. Mechanical grinding, upper disc, the workpiece is fixed on a circular cast iron plane. Single-axis polishing machine, double-axis soak foot (H015 type) axis polishing machine. ③. Fine grinding: The purpose is to further improve the quality of glass surface intelligence, minimize the thickness of the damaged layer that must be completely removed by polishing, and further correct the geometric dimensions. Hcp <6μm, ▽7 or so. The main indicator of fine grinding is smoothness, and the inspection method is to observe with the naked eye under reflected light. The fine grinding abrasive is 120~14μm. Scratches should be avoided as much as possible. ④. Polishing Hcp <λ; that is, <0.5μm. The purpose of polishing is to make the microscopic fluctuations of the glass polishing stone smaller than the wavelength of the light wave. The glass of the fine grinding stone can be polished; so that the glass has good light transmission ability.
