Ultraviolet properties of quartz glass

Since halogen bulbs need to work at a higher temperature, ordinary glass shells will melt and flow at this temperature. Due to its extremely low thermal expansion coefficient, fused quartz glass (English: Fusedquartz) is used in halogen bulbs instead of ordinary glass. Since ordinary glass can block ultraviolet light, but quartz glass cannot, halogen bulbs will emit invisible light with ultraviolet light bands. The two sides of things are fully reflected here: on the one hand, we need to add protective measures to the bulbs to reduce ultraviolet radiation, on the other hand, we also use ultraviolet lamps to treat certain skin diseases or get bronze skin that can only be obtained by sun exposure indoors.

Halogen lamps are based on the characteristics of quartz glass. If the glass tube wall is stained with oil (for example, touching the glass shell of the bulb with your hand), the above regeneration cycle process will not be completed well, which will greatly affect the life of the bulb and need to be cleaned with alcohol.
